Yobe State University, Damaturu was established by Law by the Yobe State House of Assembly (YSHA) on the 20th September, 2006. The University was recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja in October, 2006 as the 28th State University and 78th University in country. The University has a good staff strength which comprises of academic, senior admin & technical, junior admin & technical staff, visiting lecturers and sabbatical lecturers. It has four thousand one hundred and three (4103) students population in its undergraduate & Pre-Degree programmes. Yobe State University has this as its vision ‘to develop an institution of higher learning that shall be a centre of Excellence in teaching, learning and research where high quality university education is imparted to all without discrimination with a view to rapid transformation of the community.’
To expose students to various aspects of Hausa Language, Linguistics, Literature and Culture with a view to help them achieve greater competence and sophistication in their understanding appreciation of the values inherent in those aspects.
